Position: K- 12 ELA Specialist/School Improvement
Full-Time

Major Responsibilities: Research, plan and facilitate dynamic and engaging professional learning for classroom
teachers, administrators, and/or school staff based on the GA Standards of Excellence, utilizing 21st century
technology, and high-quality professional learning practices. Provide follow-up classroom support including
coaching, modeling, and assistance as needed and requested. Brainstorm ideas, identify resources and share
innovative ideas and information to improve RESA services. Utilize up to date technology to improve delivery and
engagement of professional learning for our districts. Identify and evaluate common areas of potential needs or
where improvements could be realized among multiple member systems. Remain up to date on exemplary
practices through self-study, conferences and trainings, and other capacity building programs.

Other Duties: Regularly attend staff meetings, DOE meetings and professional learning for ELA and School
Improvement and perform other duties as may be assigned by North GA RESA Executive Director.
Experience: 5+ years of exemplary teaching in standards-based public-school classrooms plus other experience
in one or more of the following areas: Academic coaching; Professional learning, proficiency in integrating and
utilizing technology in a variety of learning situations, developing curriculum, instructing adult learners,
educational research, implementing research- based best practices, developing, and implementing schoolimprovement
plan, and root-cause analysis.
Candidates should possess advanced written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.

Education: Graduate degree in education preferred, however, highly qualified candidates with bachelor's degree
and significant experience in ELA/and or School Improvement, Academic Coaching, Curriculum, Professional
Learning, and Leadership may be considered.
Must meet certification requirements as established by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.

Please Note: If selected for an interview, candidates must be prepared and willing to present a fifteen to twenty-minute
ELA professional learning of their choice for the interview team as if they were an audience of ELA
educators. Selected Topic should be relevant to ELA, School Improvement, and/or Best Practices concerning
methods (Behavior management, use of anchor charts or mini lessons, technology use, increasing student
engagement, etc.). You may choose to use our technology or bring your own. This will be required of all candidates
interviewed.

Position: School Climate Specialist
Part-Time

Major Responsibilities:  The School Climate Specialist will provide technical assistance and support to district-level personnel in working toward improving school climate.

  • Collaborate with the School Improvement Specialist to support districts and schools to include positive school climate in their district and school improvement plans.
  • Build intentional relationships with districts, schools, and teachers
  • Provide regional support and foster collaboration among the LEAs in preparing for and implementing the PBIS framework and any other positive school climate initiatives that support member districts
  • Attend the monthly Mental Health Awareness Trainings offered by GaDOE
  • Execute ongoing needs assessments
  • Stay informed about current research and actively apply for the latest grants available to support positive classroom and school climate
  • Present innovative evidenced-based presentations to support: Districts, schools, and teachers
  • Collaborate with the School Improvement Specialist to support districts and schools to include positive school climate
  • Stay up to date about the most recent research findings and effective strategies to assist member districts
  • Cultivate community partnerships with corporations, and local businesses member districts to support the districts, schools, and teachers with needed resources
  • Attend ongoing professional development that supports the needs of member districts
  • Participate in the GaDOE Train the Trainer Programs

Other Duties:  Regularly attend staff meetings, DOE meetings, and professional learning for School Climate Specialist and perform other duties as may be assigned by North GA RESA Executive Director.

Experience: 5+ years in the classroom and/or experience as a school counselor, academic coach, school social worker, administrator.

Education:  Graduate degree preferred, however highly qualified candidates with bachelor’s degree and experience may be considered.

Must meet certification requirements as established by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.
